Google expanded ads in AdWords

Google has officially launched Double Headline Expanded Text Ads. This news was first announced at the Google Performance Summit in May of this year.

According to Sundeep Jain, director of product management for Google Search Ads, the existing standard ads will still appear alongside the new ones already expanded. He presented this information at the SMX conference in Seattle. However, from October 26, 2016, it will no longer be possible to create and upload ads in the old format, but advertisers should have enough time to test, according to Jain.

Enlarged text ads contain two new headings. Each of them can contain up to 30 characters and a description up to 80 characters. Although headings can have a total of 60 characters, a maximum of 33 characters is recommended to avoid truncation. These recommendations apply to websites such as Twitter. It is also possible to use the preview tool before the ad is launched. Regarding the use of expanded text ads, Google has released a new guidelines.

Advertisers can now also set ads specifically for mobile phones, tablets or desktop computers. According to Google, it will take several months before the service can be used on all accounts. The new extension is designed to look good on all types of devices.
