The company Google has decided to take another key step – the launch of indexing, which primarily focuses on mobile versions of websites. Indexing for desktop computers and mobile phones will therefore take place separately. Google will be testing this new feature in the coming months, but it’s likely that the changes won’t take effect until the coming year.
The reason for this change is the fact that more and more users search on their mobile phones than desktop computers, and websites that do not have a mobile version are therefore logically at a disadvantage. It is therefore in Google’s interest to reflect the wishes of its customers, who are slowly but surely starting to switch primarily to mobile devices. AdWords ads, which are already displayed on mobile devices, have also undergone changes.
If your site doesn’t have a mobile version, don’t worry. Google will continue to use the desktop version of indexing for your website. Having your website optimized for mobile devices can only bring you benefits such as better search rankings.
If your site already has its own mobile version that matches the desktop version, you don’t need to change anything. Otherwise, changes are recommended.
