The popular Yandex announced to everyone that now it is possible to find so-called series in its images. Yandex has added a new function of search series of impressions to the “Yandex.Images” service. The function allows you to find images that are on one or another web page and are visually similar to each other. These impressions then appear together in the search results, in the “series” block.
The results of your searches will no longer be just a set of images with any topic, but will now be able to identify images based on a certain close similarity.

Series can be helpful for finding instructions (eg “how to draw an owl”), images of the same object (eg a car) from different angles, or similar styles (clothes from the same collection).
The series is formed using a hierarchical clustering algorithm that looks for images with a certain set of properties (common objects, colors, details, dimension) and then combines them into certain groups. The new feature is a continuation of the visual search feature that Yandex launched in September. Visual search searches the Internet for images that are similar to a sample image.
