Yandex published statistics on the development of the Internet in Russia. According to data from the fall of 2012, 61.2 million Russian citizens over the age of 18 use the Internet monthly, which is more than 52% of the country’s adult population. Of that number, nearly 47 million people use the Internet daily, with virtually everyone in major cities having an Internet connection at home.
The number of Internet fans in Russia is still growing, although the rate of growth has slowed. If we calculate that in the period from autumn 2010 to autumn 2011 the number of Internet users increased by 17%, then in the period from autumn 2011 to autumn 2012 the increase in users was only 12%. The main source of growth is the regions, 86% of new users live outside the borders of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The reduction in internet prices also helps to increase the number of internet fans. According to Yandex’s assessment, the price of fixed broadband Internet has decreased almost four times over the past year. Now it is 26 rubles on average. for 1 MB/s.
