Russians lost first place among the countries whose residents spend the most time on social networks. According to comScore’s results in 2012, Argentina took first place. A resident of this country spends an average of 9.8 hours per month on the social network.
The second place was taken by another Latin American country – Brazil, the inhabitants of this country spend an average of 9.7 hours on the social network. Russia, the leader from last year, has reached third place this year (9.6 hours). Thailand (8.7 h) and Turkey (8.6 h) complete the top five. Israel (8.2 h), Canada (7.9 h), Peru (7.9 h), Chile (7.7 h) and Mexico (7.5 h) round out the top ten.
According to comScore’s representative for Latin America, residents of these countries are very socially oriented and actively use digital communication, no wonder they spend far more time on social networks than residents of other countries. The high level of involvement means that there is now also an option for many companies looking to succeed in the market.
According to the comScore agency, South American residents aged 15 and older most often visit the social network Facebook (with 115 million visitors in November 2012), the website for finding and establishing professional contacts LinkedIn 35 million and Twitter 24 million users. A big increase in 2012 was seen for Ask.fm with almost 13 million monthly visitors, as well as Tumblr with 11 million monthly visitors.
