They most often shop online in Britain

The survey showed that the people of Great Britain are the most active in the world to use the global network as a way to make a purchase. In England, according to statistics, they buy not only footwear and technology, but also food via the Internet. This survey was conducted by the British agency Ofcom for 17 countries with the most developed online business.

According to the company’s results, Internet users from Great Britain spend around 1,083 pounds ($1,743, which is 53,000 rubles) on online shopping every year. In second place is Australia, where in 2012 they spent an average of £842 on internet shopping (2x less than the British). In the most active markets, in addition to technology and clothing, professional business equipment such as massage chairs and other equipment, tables and furniture for office equipment and even production equipment are actively purchased.

Ofcom staff also note that the growth in the volume of purchases is primarily linked to the growth in popularity of mobile devices. Not surprisingly, around 16% of data transferred is associated with mobile phones, tablets or other mobile devices. People are actively looking for opinions, news articles, and comparing price offers between an abundance of online stores. According to this indicator, the British are also significantly ahead of users from other European countries.

There is one more interesting fact, the inhabitants of Britain most actively use digital devices to access the Internet, including smart TVs and video cameras. About 15% of the population of Britain use modern televisions that allow Internet connection, search in a browser, communicate via social networks and watch video on video hosting. For comparison in the USA this indicator is a maximum of 10%.

In addition to the shopping activity, Ofcom staff also carried out research on the average price of a standard package of communications services that the average person in the country buys. This statistic took into account the price of the internet connection tariff, mobile tariff and expenses per month, as well as the cost of digital television. Here, the British were the most frugal, spending £146 a month, compared to people in France at £178, Italy at £247 and the US at £314.
