The most popular Internet video hosting YouTube is considering introducing a license fee as early as the second quarter of 2013. This information was indirectly confirmed by Google Vice President Robert Kyncl, who is in charge of overseeing the development of this website.
According to ITAR-TASS, Kyncl added that subscription to paid channels is very important and can bring additional income to developers and content creators of the site.
YouTube said it does not yet have specific information on the matter, but does not rule out the introduction of a paid service in the future.
In addition, the company announced that the number of video hosting visitors exceeded 1 billion users. According to representatives of this site, this means that every second Internet user in the world visits YouTube. A survey was conducted comparing the monthly server traffic to the population of each country, and it was found that only China and India have more people.
YouTube was launched in February 2005 and was purchased by Google in late 2006. Today, YouTube is not only the world’s most popular video hosting, but also one of the most visited websites. One of the statistics states that in terms of traffic, YouTube is now in 3rd place, right behind Google and Facebook.
