Contextual advertising agency iConText, which has the exclusive right to publish advertising on Baidu, has launched the first contextual advertising campaign on Baidu. The first client of iConTExt, which adopted the Chinese market, was the financial holding Fibo Group. The Chinese market now appears to the company as a promising direction for business expansion. Baidu occupies 65% of the Chinese market and is the 3rd largest search engine in the world.
The list of areas interested in advertising campaigns on the Chinese search engine Baidu is not limited by finances. Baidu advertising can be used by airlines, cargo companies, as well as companies that provide services to business organizations in Russia and are looking for a Chinese partner interested in supplying goods to Russia.
The adoption of the Chinese Internet market by Russian companies is not yet very active. This is apparently connected to the slowdown of the Chinese Internet market and the economy in general. Currently, China is showing the lowest GDP growth in the last 14 years, which must have affected the Internet industry as well.
According to GroupM’s assessment, the volume of Internet advertising market in China was 12.2 billion USD in 2012, showing an increase of more than 40% compared to the previous year. It is expected to grow to $16.6 billion this year and $22 billion in 2014.
On the other hand, e-Marketer calculates that the threshold of 20 mill. USD won’t overtake China’s Internet market until 2017, pointing out that small markets in India and Indonesia will outpace China in terms of growth rate.
